Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how BriefAI LLC ("BriefTrust", "we", "us") handles information when you use BriefTrust (the "Service"). BriefTrust is anonymous by construction: only aggregate results are stored, never individual reviews.

1. Information we collect

• Account information — your email address, password (stored hashed), and business-domain email used to verify ownership.
• Business information — the public details of the business you submit (name, category, location, website, Google listing).
• Computed results — the aggregate score, review counts, the synthesized brief, trend data, and the tamper seal.
• Customer contact requests — if a business turns on our call/callback feature, a customer who chooses to contact that business may provide their name, phone number, and preferred time. We collect this on behalf of, and for delivery to, that business (see Section 2A).
• Billing information — handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.
• Usage data — basic logs needed to operate and secure the Service, and, with your consent, analytics to help us improve it (see Cookies below).

2. What we do NOT store

We do not store or display individual reviews, reviewer names, reviewer photos, or review images. Raw review content is processed transiently in memory to compute your score and brief, then discarded. The stored output is anonymous by construction.

2A. Customer contact requests (business leads)

Our "anonymous by construction" design describes how we handle reviews, and that is unchanged. Separately, when a business enables our call/callback feature, a customer of that business may voluntarily submit their name, phone number, and preferred callback time to reach that business. For this contact data, BriefTrust acts as a processor on behalf of the business: we store it so the business can see and respond to the request, we email it to the business, and the business is responsible for contacting the customer and for its own handling of that information. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it for our own marketing. Customer contact requests are automatically deleted after a limited retention period, and a business can delete a request at any time from its dashboard. If you are a customer who submitted a request and want it removed, contact the business, or email us at support@brieftrust.com and we will help route your request.

3. How we use information

We use your information to provide the Service — to compute, seal, host, and display your verified score and brief; to verify ownership; to process payment; to send service and security communications; and to operate, secure, and improve the Service. We may use aggregate, de-identified data for analytics and product improvement.

4. Third parties we share with

We share only what's necessary with service providers acting on our behalf: a review-data provider (to fetch public reviews), an AI provider (to synthesize your brief), a payment processor, email delivery, and hosting/infrastructure. These providers process data on the transient basis described above and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Legal basis

The transient processing of public reviews is performed on your instruction and on our legitimate interest in providing the Service you requested. Account and billing data are processed to perform our contract with you.

6. Data retention

Raw reviews are not retained. Your account, business record, and computed results are retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward as required for legal, accounting, and security purposes. Unclaimed free drafts are deleted automatically after 30 days. Customer contact requests (Section 2A) are deleted automatically after a limited retention period (currently 90 days), or sooner if the business deletes them.

7. Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your business and account at any time from your dashboard, or by emailing us. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable law (such as to object to or restrict certain processing); email us to exercise them.

8. Cookies & your choices

We use a small number of cookies, in two categories:

• Essential — required to run the Service: they keep you signed in, remember your cookie choice, and help protect against fraud and abuse. The Service can't work without these, so they are always active.
• Analytics (optional) — only with your consent, we use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.

On your first visit, a banner lets you choose "Accept all" (essential + analytics) or "Essential only." We remember your choice for about 12 months in a bt_consent cookie. You can change or withdraw it at any time by clearing your browser's cookies for our site, which makes the banner appear again. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell your data.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but our anonymous-by-construction design means the most sensitive data (raw reviews) is never stored in the first place.

10. Children

The Service is for businesses and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
